What are Invisalign Braces?

Simply put, Invisalign braces are a clear aligner system. They are clear trays which are removable and custom made for each patient’s needs and treatment plan.

The treatment process which utilizes Invisalign braces starts when dentists take impressions or molds of a patient’s teeth. Once these impressions are taken, they are sent to the Invisalign lab to be fabricated. At the lab, a series of trays are made which are known as aligners and the patients are required to wear these for a certain amount of time. Typically, patients will wear each set for a period of about two to two and a half weeks continuously at 20 to 22 hours a day.

The essential element which is necessary for this treatment to work is the patient’s commitment and cooperation. If they dedicate themselves to wear the aligners more often, the treatment will be more successful and faster. After a patient is treated through a set of aligners for a specific amount of time and if the dentist is happy with the achieved result, then he or she will order retainers, which are similar to the clear aligners, to be worn only during the night.
